eVisa UK: What Every Non-British Resident Needs to Know in 2025
The UK has moved to a fully digital immigration system. Physical biometric residence permits are being replaced. Here's what changed, what you need to do, and what happens if things go wrong.
An eVisa is simply a digital record held by the Home Office that shows your immigration status and the conditions attached to it. For people on family visas, student visas, skilled worker visas, or those with indefinite leave to remain, the process of moving to an eVisa is broadly the same. You create a UKVI account online, verify your identity, and your status is then linked to your passport or travel document.
