COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions People Ask Before They Call

MKDL Law is a paralegal services firm based in Barnet, London. We provide affordable legal support services — document preparation, legal research, case organisation, and guidance — for individuals and small businesses across Barnet, London, and England.
No. MKDL Law is a paralegal services firm and is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). We are not a law firm. We provide legal support services and do not give regulated legal advice. For matters requiring regulated legal representation — particularly immigration — we refer you to our trusted SRA-regulated law firm partner. We are members of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP).
A solicitor is a regulated lawyer authorised by the SRA who can provide legal advice and represent you in court. A paralegal provides legal support services — document preparation, research, case organisation — without SRA authorisation. For most everyday matters such as employment disputes, housing issues, contract reviews, and small claims, paralegal support is entirely sufficient and considerably more affordable.
MKDL Law was founded by Mbongo Makadilu to bridge the gap between people who need legal support and a system that too often prices them out. Too many people in Barnet and across London face employment injustice, housing exploitation, and family difficulties without ever getting help — simply because they cannot afford a solicitor. MKDL Law exists to change that.
About MKDL Law
All our work is priced on a fixed-fee basis, agreed in writing before we begin. There is no hourly rate and no surprise invoices. Your free 15-minute consultation will include a clear written quote before any work starts. Prices vary by complexity — a straightforward letter costs less than a full case file review.
We listen to your situation, ask the right questions to understand the full picture, and tell you honestly whether we can help — and how. If we can, we give you a clear written quote. If your matter needs a regulated solicitor or our immigration partner, we'll tell you immediately and help you get to the right person. The call is completely obligation-free.
Not at all. We offer in-person appointments in Barnet and fully remote services via phone, email, WhatsApp, and video call. Many clients across London and England work with us entirely remotely. Most of what we do can be handled without you ever visiting an office.
We aim to respond to all enquiries within 2 hours on working days (Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm). WhatsApp messages are often answered faster. For urgent matters — such as an imminent court deadline or an eviction notice — call us directly and we will prioritise your case.
It depends on the type of document and how complete your information is. Simple documents can often be turned around quickly, while more complex work takes longer. We will give you a clear timescale before we begin.
Yes, we may be able to offer Buy Now, Pay Later on eligible services. Availability depends on the service and the payment partner’s checks. We will always tell you the options upfront so you can choose what works best for you.
We accept card payments and contactless options, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Tap to Pay. If you are unsure which option is best for you, we will explain it clearly before any work starts.
Fees & Process
Yes — through our SRA-regulated law firm partner. We do not handle immigration matters directly. Immigration law is complex and high-stakes, and requires specialist regulated advice. We refer all immigration enquiries to our trusted partner, facilitate the introduction, and ensure you're in qualified hands.
As a paralegal service, we cannot provide regulated legal representation in most court proceedings. However, we can prepare all your documentation, help you understand the process, and in some tribunal settings, act as a McKenzie Friend. We will always be clear about what we can and cannot do before you commit to working with us.
Yes. We serve clients from all London boroughs and offer remote consultations for anyone in England and Wales. Employment, housing, family, and contract matters can all be handled entirely remotely — distance is no barrier at all.
We will always tell you clearly and immediately if your matter requires a regulated solicitor rather than a paralegal service. We would rather refer you to the right professional than take on work that isn't in your best interest. In many cases we can help you identify the right solicitor and make a warm introduction.
We can help with a wide range of legal support documents, including letters, forms, statements, case summaries, evidence bundles, and administrative paperwork. If you are not sure whether we can help, send us the document and we will tell you honestly.
